How to Get Reflex Device

· 5 min read

Reflex Device is found through the lower Sha-Chi Tower route in Weeping Creek Valley, near the Valley Sha-Chi Tower Base Bell. It is a support accessory that widens the timing windows for parry and Perfect Dodge. To reach that part of the tower, follow the optional exploration path opened after obtaining Hunter's Chain Sickle rather than searching only the main ascent.

Open the lower valley route

The collected beginner-build route sends you back to the tower summit after defeating the Hunt. Use the Chain Sickle interaction there to obtain the Sha-Chi Tower Base Camp Gate Key, and collect the Sha-Chi Furnace Inspection Crank along the route. The key opens the optional camp from the Creek Valley Plains Entrance Bell.

From that camp, continue toward the base of the tower and explore the furnace area. The relevant mechanism uses the inspection crank and leads to the Reflex Device pickup. The exact metric distance mentioned by one source is not needed to navigate this dependency, and this guide does not present that distance as a verified in-game measurement.

Separate this pickup from nearby discoveries

The optional lower area also connects to the Crimson Manor approach and other useful equipment. Reaching the Manor's exterior does not mean you have the Puppet's Tongue needed to open its door, and finding the Bell is not the same as finishing the entire region. Keep the Reflex Device objective focused on the tower-base exploration and its mechanism.

A route through the lower valley is also useful for checking earlier errands and collectible paths. That does not make every reward there interchangeable or mean you should wait until the late game to collect this accessory. Once the Chain Sickle and relevant key are available, the early revisit can improve your defensive consistency for the regions ahead.

What the accessory changes

Reflex Device makes the execution window more generous; it does not decide which defensive action you should use. You still need to parry the relevant blue attacks and dodge red ones, and a multi-hit sequence can continue after the first response. Its practical value is helping a correctly chosen action succeed more consistently.

Polishing strengthens the effect, but it is still an accessory investment with the relevant material cost. Try its base behavior and inspect the upgrade preview before committing a crystal. If your problem is choosing the wrong response rather than missing its timing, improve that recognition first so the support effect has something useful to reinforce.

Use the timing help to learn the sequence

The Reflex Device's value lies in the defensive timing assistance described by the equipment guidance. It does not remove the need to identify red versus blue cues or recognize that a combination may continue after the first defended hit. Use the extra support to practice the sequence rather than assuming the accessory turns holding guard into every required defense.

Check that the accessory is actually equipped when comparing your attempts. Also separate its timing role from the offense offered by other accessories, because changing both at once makes the result harder to interpret. Choose polishing based on whether that defensive support remains useful to your play style, not merely because the item is often recommended early.

Read the attack before choosing your response

Blue and red attack cues call for different defensive actions. A blue flash is your cue to prepare a well-timed parry, while a red attack needs a dodge rather than an ordinary block. The useful timing is tied to the attack connecting, so watching the whole animation matters more than reflexively pressing a button at the first colored light.

Holding guard and performing a timed parry are not interchangeable. Guarding can keep ordinary hits from damaging your health, but it consumes Sha-Chi and can leave you exposed if you let the meter run out. A successful timed defense gives you a better opportunity to reduce the enemy's guard and create the opening that your heavy attacks need.

Practice one recognizable sequence at a time and judge whether your response happened too early or too late. The same color does not mean every enemy uses the same delay, and a multi-hit sequence can continue after your first successful defense. Keep watching until the combination actually ends before committing to a long attack or a medicine animation.

Choose accessories before spending polishing materials

Accessory polishing becomes available after meeting Jewel in the Village of Lu. Once unlocked, it can be accessed through Bells, making it part of your regular preparation rather than a reason to revisit her shop before every fight. Polishing consumes Remnant Dust and the appropriate crystal, and the preview tells you how the particular accessory changes.

The useful question is whether the effect helps your current loadout often enough to justify an equipped slot. A bonus tied to one weapon category is less consistent if you keep switching into a different category, while a resistance accessory can be excellent for one encounter without becoming a permanent choice. Read the conditions as carefully as the displayed percentage.

Accessory slots expand through ability upgrades, but offensive, defensive and support equipment still have category limits. Do not copy a full late-game loadout onto a character that has not unlocked the required capacity. More importantly, do not assume that polishing can be refunded like ordinary weapon enhancement; the collected accessory guidance warns that the material investment is permanent.

Use weapon switching to protect your Sha-Chi

Weapon switching has a defensive purpose as well as an offensive one: it restores Soul's Sha-Chi. Blocking and heavy attacks spend that resource, so an otherwise comfortable fight can turn dangerous when you keep using the same weapon with an almost empty meter. Switch before the enemy breaks your guard, then decide whether the next opening is safe enough to attack.

The switch has a cooldown, which prevents it from being an unlimited answer to every incoming hit. Watch the enemy's guard meter alongside your own instead of emptying your resources whenever a combo becomes available. When the enemy is about to recover from a break, ending your attack early can leave you better prepared for the next exchange.

A practical pairing gives each weapon a recognizable job. One can build damage or a status effect while the other helps you recover, control a crowd or create a break. That division is more useful than choosing two names from a ranking and treating their individual damage ratings as proof that they work well together.
