How to Get Twin Fish Pendant
· 5 min readTo obtain Twin Fish Pendant, leave Red alive during the first encounter and escape using the nearby chain, then defeat her when she appears during the later Chief Disciple encounter. The collected acquisition guide warns that killing her at the first opportunity prevents that specific reward route. The pendant increases damage as your Sha-Chi falls, so its benefit comes with a defensive tradeoff.
Make the first decision deliberately
Red is encountered near the Dovecote tower in the Mandate Encampment. A player focused only on defeating every visible boss may try to finish the encounter immediately, but the reward route described for the pendant requires leaving. Use the chain escape rather than treating retreat as a failed attempt that must be corrected.
This is a progression choice, not a general rule that every optional opponent should be spared. The consequence concerns Red's later appearance and the pendant associated with it. If you have already finished the earlier fight differently, the collected material does not establish a guaranteed way to undo that decision on the same save.
Obtain the reward at the later encounter
The acquisition source ties the pendant to Red's appearance during the second phase of the Chief Disciple fight. Verify the identity of the encounter rather than confusing her initial tower fight with the later reward opportunity. This distinction explains why simply looking for a chest around the Dovecote will not solve the item search.
The separate Red combat entry describes delayed backflip attacks and a thread-related follow-up. Those observations can help you recognize her actions, but they do not remove the need to watch the actual sequence in the later encounter. A location and reward guide should not be read as a promise that the exact fight conditions remain identical in every appearance.
Decide whether the effect fits your playstyle
Twin Fish Pendant is an offensive accessory whose damage benefit increases as Sha-Chi decreases. That condition can conflict with the defensive habit of keeping your guard resource healthy. Treat the effect as an option for a deliberate setup rather than a reason to empty your meter whenever an enemy can still attack.
Polishing improves the effect according to the item table in the collected guide. Because accessory investment is not refunded like ordinary weapon enhancement, inspect the condition and test how often it helps before spending the crystal. A less conditional bonus may be preferable if maintaining reliable defense is your current priority.
Do not treat low Sha-Chi as an instruction to empty it
The pendant's damage condition is something to understand alongside the danger of losing your guard. Deliberately exhausting Sha-Chi before an unfamiliar combination can expose you before any offensive benefit becomes useful. Read the effect as a conditional opportunity within a controlled setup, not a command to ignore weapon switching and defensive resources.
Its acquisition is also tied to the route involving Red and the later Chief Disciple encounter. A player who is still at the earlier decision should follow that quest guidance before expecting the accessory to appear immediately. Keep the unlock condition separate from the later question of whether its effect belongs in your active build.
Choose accessories before spending polishing materials
Accessory polishing becomes available after meeting Jewel in the Village of Lu. Once unlocked, it can be accessed through Bells, making it part of your regular preparation rather than a reason to revisit her shop before every fight. Polishing consumes Remnant Dust and the appropriate crystal, and the preview tells you how the particular accessory changes.
The useful question is whether the effect helps your current loadout often enough to justify an equipped slot. A bonus tied to one weapon category is less consistent if you keep switching into a different category, while a resistance accessory can be excellent for one encounter without becoming a permanent choice. Read the conditions as carefully as the displayed percentage.
Accessory slots expand through ability upgrades, but offensive, defensive and support equipment still have category limits. Do not copy a full late-game loadout onto a character that has not unlocked the required capacity. More importantly, do not assume that polishing can be refunded like ordinary weapon enhancement; the collected accessory guidance warns that the material investment is permanent.
Use weapon switching to protect your Sha-Chi
Weapon switching has a defensive purpose as well as an offensive one: it restores Soul's Sha-Chi. Blocking and heavy attacks spend that resource, so an otherwise comfortable fight can turn dangerous when you keep using the same weapon with an almost empty meter. Switch before the enemy breaks your guard, then decide whether the next opening is safe enough to attack.
The switch has a cooldown, which prevents it from being an unlimited answer to every incoming hit. Watch the enemy's guard meter alongside your own instead of emptying your resources whenever a combo becomes available. When the enemy is about to recover from a break, ending your attack early can leave you better prepared for the next exchange.
A practical pairing gives each weapon a recognizable job. One can build damage or a status effect while the other helps you recover, control a crowd or create a break. That division is more useful than choosing two names from a ranking and treating their individual damage ratings as proof that they work well together.
Keep the later story checkpoint separate
The Mirage Estate warning concerns the larger mystery and ending route, not the earlier settlement change after Bai Chilian. Published ending guides recommend completing the available purple story quests before entering the estate. If the game warns about unfinished business, review the journal before continuing rather than assuming that the ability to fast travel makes the warning harmless.
The important connected threads include the Illusory Pipa, the Herald's Illusion and Secrets at the Heart of the Lake. These lead through optional regions, the Acolyte Masks and the Crystal Puppet Eyes, so progress can be blocked by a missing prerequisite somewhere else. A quest being marked optional means the main story can continue without it; it does not mean the quest is irrelevant to the ending you want.
Some objectives continue inside the estate, including later steps involving Long Pillars and Quick Hand Zhang. The practical rule is to finish every currently available prerequisite, then continue those ongoing objectives when the next area makes them accessible. Avoid turning a guide's shorthand about finishing everything first into an impossible demand to collect an item located beyond the checkpoint itself.
