Phantom Blade Zero on PC
· 5 min readPhantom Blade Zero is available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, as linked by the official game site. Use the current store requirements for your hardware decision rather than assuming that a gameplay video establishes performance on your machine. The official Steam listing supplies the minimum and recommended configurations below, including its upscaling and SSD conditions.
Choose the storefront and confirm requirements
The official links establish the PC release's storefront availability. Check the requirements and account-region listing at the store where you intend to obtain the game. A third-party compatibility page can be a secondary reference, but it should not replace the publisher's actual requirement text when the two disagree.
The collected performance guidance also emphasizes installation state and storage requirements when diagnosing a problem. A successful purchase or download is not proof that shader work and client updates have completed. Let those processes finish before deciding that the game's normal performance is represented by its first launch.
Understand the PC-specific patch changes
Version 1.0302256 names PC changes to Interact/Talk remapping, shader compilation and Bluetooth-controller stuttering. It also adjusts NVIDIA Reflex Auto behavior when V-Sync is enabled. These are targeted changes, not evidence that every graphics setting or input issue was rewritten in the same patch.
If you change ray tracing, pay attention to the documented restart and compilation behavior. A settings choice can affect the next startup process as well as rendering load. Record that state when comparing performance so you do not mix a compilation wait with a gameplay frame-rate result.
Keep mods separate from the base installation
The collected PC material includes third-party modifications that alter enemy respawns and boss retries. Those changes can make a modded run differ substantially from the ordinary rules described in gameplay guides. State whether you have installed them when comparing an encounter or troubleshooting a new problem.
The official update warns about incompatible mods. If the game fails after patching, test the unmodified installation before assuming another performance tool is needed. This guide does not provide a universal mod install command or suggest that every listing is compatible with every build.
Match advice to the symptom
A failure to launch, a sustained low frame rate and a short hitch need different observations. Record the patch, hardware, scene and exact behavior before changing multiple settings. The dedicated troubleshooting pages explain those comparisons without promising a fixed FPS improvement for all PCs.
Separate ownership from a tested configuration
Official Steam and Epic links establish where the PC version is distributed. They do not establish how a particular graphics card, resolution and setting combination performs. Use the store requirements and platform-specific reporting for that decision, keeping any quoted measurement attached to the configuration that produced it.
When following a PC troubleshooting page, identify whether the author is describing startup, traversal or a sustained rendering load. Those cases can require different observations even on the same machine. The patch's targeted changes are useful context, but they should not be expanded into a guarantee that every configuration now produces the same result.
Official minimum and recommended requirements
Steam lists Windows 10 or 11, a 64-bit system, DirectX 12 and 16 GB of RAM for both configurations. The minimum processor is an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, paired with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 with 6 GB of video memory or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT with 8 GB. The stated minimum target is 1080p at 30 FPS with upscaling enabled, so it is not a promise of native-resolution rendering at that frame rate.
The recommended processor is an Intel Core i5-10600K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. The listed graphics options are an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti with 8 GB or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT with 12 GB, with a target of 1440p at 60 FPS using upscaling. These are the publisher's requirements, not benchmark results measured by this wiki on those components.
Both configurations call for 145 GB of available storage and installation on an SSD. Keep the storage figure separate from an exact download size, which the requirements table does not establish. If you are comparing another drive or graphics preset, retain the SSD and upscaling conditions instead of quoting only the processor and graphics-card names.
What version 1.0302256 actually changed
The official patch note describes performance improvements in certain areas, not a universal frame-rate fix. On PC it also changes shader compilation, reduces stuttering associated with Bluetooth-connected controllers, and fixes NVIDIA Reflex Auto behavior when V-Sync is enabled. Each statement has a limited scope, so it should be matched to the symptom you are experiencing.
For players who previously had ray tracing disabled, the first start after this patch requires a one-time shader recompilation. Players who already had ray tracing enabled follow a different startup path, and enabling ray tracing later makes its shaders compile separately on the next restart. A compilation screen after the update is therefore not by itself evidence that the installation has broken.
The note also warns that some third-party mods are incompatible with the update. If a problem begins after patching a modified installation, remove those modifications according to their own instructions and test the unmodified game before adding more fixes. The official note is dated November 3 on the game website, while the collected Steam announcement is dated November 4; those are source dates, not proof of two different patches.
Make one reversible comparison at a time
Record where the issue happens, which patch is installed and whether the same action reliably reproduces it. A crash during launch, a long shader-compilation screen and a hitch while moving through a particular area are different symptoms. Keeping those cases separate makes it easier to judge a change and avoids applying an unrelated fix merely because it appears in a search result.
Finish pending client updates and verify the installation if files may be incomplete. On Steam, the documented check is under the game's Properties, then Installed Files, then Verify integrity of game files. Let the verification finish before testing again; repeatedly running the same check without a changed result adds little information.
For graphics-related symptoms, compare the same location with a lower rendering load and ray tracing disabled, then restart when the setting requires it. Restore the previous option if it makes no difference instead of accumulating changes you can no longer explain. These are diagnostic comparisons, not guarantees of higher FPS, and this wiki has not benchmarked your particular hardware.
The official shader-cache recommendation
S-GAME also recommends rebuilding the game's shader cache when crashes or stuttering follow this update. The published cache path currently appears without directory separators, so confirm the exact cache folder with official support before removing files. This recommendation concerns shader-cache files, not the installation directory or saved games, and relaunching afterward triggers recompilation.
