A Healer’s Mercy Walkthrough

· 5 min read

Complete A Healer's Mercy by helping the four wounded thieves for Yu'er in the Crimson Forest, then returning to her for the Calming Gourd reward. The collected route places them in the tunnel, cellar, lower ladder area and Thieves' Camp dungeon. Finish this work before concluding the region's story and losing the earlier settlement interactions.

Meet Yu’er in the Thieves’ Camp

This request follows her earlier presence in Weeping Creek Valley, where she asks for herbs and the Flesh Lily. Do not confuse the Medicine Case awarded by Apprentice Healer with the Calming Gourd awarded by this later request. They are different quest stages with different rewards and locations.

Speak to Yu'er in the Crimson Forest and inspect the active objective before searching. The task concerns wounded thieves rather than every hostile bandit in the region. Keep a simple record of the four patient locations so that a repeated visit to the same person does not look like progress toward the last missing one.

Check the tunnel and cellar routes

The first location described by GameSpot is partway through the tunnel near the Outlaw Trap Bell. Another wounded thief is in the cellar associated with a Quick Hand Zhang treasure. These landmarks are more useful than a bare map pin because the relevant spaces can be below or behind the main walking route.

The cellar also contains the Thieves' Camp Dungeon Key needed for another patient. Pick up the key while following the route rather than leaving and later assuming that the dungeon is blocked by a separate story chapter. An item you obtain for one objective can be the access requirement for the next patient in the same request.

Visit the ladder and dungeon patients

Another wounded thief is at the bottom of the ladder near Cliffside Lodge. The final location in the collected list is inside the Thieves' Camp dungeon, opened with the key from the cellar. Use the named Bell and passage context to distinguish these spots from nearby enemies or similarly shaped buildings.

Once all four interactions are complete, return to Yu'er and finish the dialogue. The reward is Calming Gourd, an accessory whose effect is tied to medicine use and recovering from a guard break. Check the actual description before equipping it, because it modifies healing-related play rather than simply being another medicine bottle.

Do not postpone the reward conversation

The collected guidance warns to finish Yu'er's local quests before the Crimson Forest's main objectives conclude. Defeating Bai Chilian changes the affected settlements and their friendly interactions. Returning physically to the camp afterward cannot be assumed to restore the opportunity, so turn in the completed request before that threshold.

Collect the reward before advancing

Yu'er's work extends beyond finding a single patient, so check all four documented wounded people and complete the relevant returns. The cellar and dungeon-key dependency can make the last interaction easy to overlook if you only follow the visible main route. Use the patient locations as a concrete checklist rather than assuming the quest is finished after the first successful treatment.

The Calming Gourd reward belongs on the same early-deadline review as the other Outpost and camp errands. Return before defeating Bai Chilian so that a completed objective is not left waiting for an unavailable conversation. This is an NPC timing issue, distinct from an exploration chest that can remain behind a later tool barrier.

Check the early quest deadline

Defeating Bai Chilian changes the early settlements and prevents further friendly interactions with affected NPCs in the Outpost and Thieves' Camp. This is why early errands should be resolved before finishing that part of the Crimson Forest story. Returning to the map afterward does not restore the earlier version of those conversations.

Yu'er's tasks are particularly easy to postpone because their ingredients and patients are spread across optional paths. Finish the work you can complete in Weeping Creek Valley and the Crimson Forest, and return to collect the rewards before crossing the story threshold. Quick Hand Zhang's rescue and the letter delivery for Honor Among Thieves belong on the same practical review of local business.

This deadline does not mean that every collectible in both regions disappears. Tools obtained later deliberately reopen routes in earlier areas, and some rewards remain available through backtracking. Separate a missed NPC interaction from a locked exploration passage so you know whether to complete a quest now or simply record a place to revisit.

Match healing to the opening you have

Your medicine selection should answer the kind of damage you are taking. A direct heal is useful when you need health immediately, while a restorative that works over time asks you to survive long enough for its benefit to arrive. Some options also restore Sha-Chi, reduce damage or help with ailments, so the largest healing number is not automatically the best choice.

Bells restore health and refill medicine uses in the standard game. Ordinary defeated enemies do not respawn just because you rest, which makes a cleared route back to a Bell valuable when you are low on supplies. This is a different situation from choosing to drink during an active boss combination, where the opening itself determines whether the heal will help.

You can equip two medicine types, allowing a more immediate recovery option to sit beside a longer-lasting buff. Check the remaining charges of the selected medicine before entering another encounter and use the item description to distinguish gradual recovery from an instant effect. If healing feels weak rather than completely unresponsive, inspect your upgrades and equipped accessory effects before treating the input as broken.

Choose accessories before spending polishing materials

Accessory polishing becomes available after meeting Jewel in the Village of Lu. Once unlocked, it can be accessed through Bells, making it part of your regular preparation rather than a reason to revisit her shop before every fight. Polishing consumes Remnant Dust and the appropriate crystal, and the preview tells you how the particular accessory changes.

The useful question is whether the effect helps your current loadout often enough to justify an equipped slot. A bonus tied to one weapon category is less consistent if you keep switching into a different category, while a resistance accessory can be excellent for one encounter without becoming a permanent choice. Read the conditions as carefully as the displayed percentage.

Accessory slots expand through ability upgrades, but offensive, defensive and support equipment still have category limits. Do not copy a full late-game loadout onto a character that has not unlocked the required capacity. More importantly, do not assume that polishing can be refunded like ordinary weapon enhancement; the collected accessory guidance warns that the material investment is permanent.
