Village of Lu Cellar Key Location

· 5 min read

Get the Village of Lu Cellar Key by freeing the prisoner in the Puppet Training Ground beneath the village and speaking to him. His cell first requires the Tunnel Cage Key found nearby. The cellar door you encounter earlier is a later return objective, not a sign that its key must be in the next house.

Open the route beneath the well

Progress through the Village of Lu story and the objectives that remove the threads blocking the well. The collected route connects this progression to the bodies and major encounters around the village. Until that route is open, searching the cellar entrance cannot replace the required story access to the underground area.

The path below leads through the Smuggling Tunnel toward the Puppet Training Ground. Keep the area's name in mind because the prisoner is not simply standing beside the original cellar door. Activating Bells along the way makes the eventual return trip easier once the reward is in your inventory.

Use the Tunnel Cage Key on the prisoner’s cell

The collected Method guide places the key for the cell on a table in a nearby room. Pick it up, unlock the prisoner's cage and speak to him to receive the separate Village of Lu Cellar Key. These are two items serving two locks, so collecting the first is not enough to open the cellar.

Confirm the reward conversation before leaving the underground area. If your inventory still only contains the cage key, revisit the prisoner interaction rather than repeatedly trying the cellar lock. The source establishes this exchange directly and does not describe a random drop chance or a merchant purchase.

Return to the cellar for the reward

Travel back toward the cellar entrance and descend the ladder to the locked passage. After opening it, clear the enemy inside before collecting the room's rewards. The highlighted equipment pickup is Remnant Spark Cage, an accessory tied to Phantom Edge follow-up attacks.

Its usefulness depends on whether you use those follow-ups in your actual combat rhythm. It should not be assumed to refund every ordinary Phantom Edge activation, and this guide does not extend its condition beyond the collected description. Read the effect and your unlocked follow-up actions before deciding to polish it or replace another support item.

Finish the prisoner exchange

The Tunnel Cage Key and the Village of Lu cellar key perform different jobs in the sequence. The first opens the prisoner's cage, while completing the rescue conversation provides the key you need for the cellar. If you collected a key from the table but the cellar still will not open, verify which item you actually have and whether the prisoner interaction is finished.

This distinction also prevents a wasted return trip to the cellar before its prerequisite is complete. Follow the route through the Puppet Training Ground, resolve the cage interaction and only then revisit the village door. The documented cellar reward is the Remnant Spark Cage, not a reason to infer that every other locked room in the village uses the same key.

Understand the Pipa route that links the regions

Myst repairs the Illusory Pipa at her tavern in Pangzhen after you recover its Head, Backplate and Strings. The parts come from Dusk in the Village of Lu, Yubi in the Mandate Encampment and Yan Qiansui at Meigu Lake. Finding the broken instrument starts a longer journey; it does not mean all three repair pieces are available beside its starting location.

The restored instrument has an exploration role as well as a combat role. It clears the relevant mist and wind barriers, including the route toward the Mountain of Imprisonment, where several other quests continue. This makes the Pipa a useful way to understand why a journal objective can remain unresolved while you progress elsewhere.

Treat each newly opened area as a reason to recheck your existing quests. The mountain connects to the Herald's Illusion, Cui's family search and the wider mysteries around the lake, while the Mandate Training Grounds contribute both a Pipa part and another portal interaction. Following those dependencies saves more travel than searching every region again without a specific missing item in mind.

Choose accessories before spending polishing materials

Accessory polishing becomes available after meeting Jewel in the Village of Lu. Once unlocked, it can be accessed through Bells, making it part of your regular preparation rather than a reason to revisit her shop before every fight. Polishing consumes Remnant Dust and the appropriate crystal, and the preview tells you how the particular accessory changes.

The useful question is whether the effect helps your current loadout often enough to justify an equipped slot. A bonus tied to one weapon category is less consistent if you keep switching into a different category, while a resistance accessory can be excellent for one encounter without becoming a permanent choice. Read the conditions as carefully as the displayed percentage.

Accessory slots expand through ability upgrades, but offensive, defensive and support equipment still have category limits. Do not copy a full late-game loadout onto a character that has not unlocked the required capacity. More importantly, do not assume that polishing can be refunded like ordinary weapon enhancement; the collected accessory guidance warns that the material investment is permanent.

Return when your traversal tools change

A blocked route often means you need a later tool, not that you overlooked a nearby key. The Feather Bow can interact with certain hanging objects, Flaming Mane clears damp brambles, and the Tiger Cannon breaks the rock barriers associated with it. Their discovery order is part of the exploration structure, so an early map can legitimately contain a passage you cannot open yet.

The Illusory Pipa is another important example because its repair spans multiple regions. Once restored, it clears specified mist and wind barriers and opens access to further exploration, including the Mountain of Imprisonment route. Keep the name of the obstacle and the nearest Bell together in your notes so you can return with the right tool.

Opening a physical route and preserving a quest are separate concerns. A new Phantom Edge may let you revisit a chest later, while a story event can already have changed the NPC who would have given you a reward. Before advancing a major quest, check the journal and the relevant missable conditions instead of assuming that fast travel makes every unfinished objective recoverable.
